Store latex with powder
Store latex correctly: This is how powder protects your clothes
There's something very special about the love of latex - and caring for these special fashion items requires special attention. Whether you're an avid latex enthusiast or a fashion professional, proper storage of latex clothing is crucial to ensure its longevity and quality. One of the most important tips, which many do not know, is the use of powder when storing latex. But why is that and how exactly does it work?
In this tutorial, you'll learn everything you need to know to best care for and store your latex favorites.
1
First, you need to choose a suitable, clean vessel.
The most suitable is the sink, or for larger items, the bathtub.
2
Your latex must now be washed through.
The latex must be free of dirt and oil and grease residues. (see Tutorial: Washing Latex)
For the next step, the latex must be 100% dry!
3
Choose a suitable plastic bag for your latex.
The volume of the storage should be adapted to the size of the clothing.
Only put cleaned, clean and dry latex clothing in the plastic bag.
4
Now put 2 - 3 teaspoons of beGLOSS talcum powder into the plastic bag/bag with your latex piece.
Now seal it airtight (no talcum powder should escape).
5
Now distribute the powder completely on your latex clothing by shaking the storage. Turn the clothing in the bag and repeat the process.
If necessary, you can add latex powder.
Then you can store your latex clothing as it is airtight in the plastic bag.
If your latex piece has eyelets or metal applications, we recommend that you protect these extra with butter paper.
With transparent latex, it is imperative that all metal eyelets, rivets or metal applications or metal zippers are protected separately with butter paper, otherwise it comes to discoloration.
Notes on the application
General
- It is best to store latex clothing hanging on a wooden hanger. Plastics (softeners) can destroy the latex material.
- Always store colored latex clothing separately. Unpleasant discoloration may otherwise occur.
- Garments with zippers or rivets made of metal should be stored on a hanger with a wooden bar. A protective cloth (neutral natural cotton cloth) is then hung over the bar so that the metal does not come into contact with the latex.
- Very long & airtight stored latex clothing can be stored with resealable plastic bags (polyethylene). Please note that your latex clothing must be perfectly prepared with special talcum powder and 100% dry.
Warning
- Never use household powders! These can contain harmful additives that attack the latex.
- Check product for skin compatibility and dermatologically tested.
